EDITOR, The Tribune.
A photograph appearing in the newspaper just before Christmas showed the President of the Senate, the Hon Sharon Wilson hosting Mr Craig Flowers, a convicted “numbers man”, described as a businessman by the newspaper, at a Christmas fund raising event at her home.
I found the picture shocking. It seemed strange that the President of the Senate would include Mr Flowers among her guests at a time when our country is being wrecked by lawlessness and disrespect for law enforcement and while the Government is promising do its utmost to fight crime.
The only thing more surprising than the photo of Mr Flowers and the Senate President was another picture of other socially prominent individuals, including Chief Justice Sir Michael Barnett, enjoying the party.
I was reminded that another photograph appearing in our newspapers several weeks ago had shown our prime minister in London in the company of another individual described as a businessman but against whom a PLP member of parliament, under Parliamentary protection, made serious allegations.
It would be helpful to our fight against crime and to our commitment to restore higher levels of integrity and morality in our country if our leaders would not attend functions where wealthy individuals who engage in unlawful activities are present. And, in instances where our leaders arrive at functions and discover the presence of unsavoury individuals they would be well advised to leave.

Corruption is rampant among the PLP government and its cronies. History will paint them with the tar brush that they deserve. I hope that we as a nation come to our senses soon enough to punish these people for crimes against the Bahamaland.
