Two armed robberies investigated

FREEPORT – Grand Bahama Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred in the Freeport area over the weekend.

The first happened on Saturday at East Atlantic Drive at around 9.45am, when a man was held up and robbed by two masked and armed men.

The victim reported that one of the culprits had a knife and the other a handgun.

He was robbed of his Samsung Galaxy S3 cellphone, red and white Puma shoes and a wallet containing $70 cash.

The culprits were 5’4” tall and of slim build. Both spoke with a Bahamian accent. One was wearing all black clothing and the second was wearing a gray jacket with blue jeans.

The second incident happened around 2pm on Saturday at West Atlantic Drive.

According to reports, two men were taking a shortcut on foot when they were approached by two masked men who wrestled them the ground.

The culprits punched the men in their faces and robbed them of $270 cash.

The suspects were dressed in dark clothing. Both were described as about 6’1” tall.

Inspector Terecita Pinder said police are investigating both incidents.
