Business mix event brings young achievers together to network

BAHA Mar Academy and Junior Achievement New Providence hosted the second annual Business Mix and Mingle Seminar for students in grades 10-12 at the Wyndham Nassau Resort.

“Utilise the opportunities that Baha Mar is affording you through this networking training,” said JA Bahamas chairman Raymond Winder.

“I have seen many scholastically prudent individuals fail to secure meaningful employment because they lacked the networking skills being taught here tonight.

Vice-chair Philip Simon added: “We established this initiative with Baha Mar last year as it exposes our achievers to first-hand training from the Baha Mar Academy, the recruitment arm of the largest single phase development in our region. The team from Baha Mar did a great job and obviously everyone had fun.”

In the highly competitive post-high school environment, JA is working diligently to prepare its achievers to maximise every opportunity. Participants were exposed to the elevator pitch, trained on the correct handshake and the ‘dos and don’ts’ of a professional conversation and presentation.

Today, after 35 years of existence, JA Bahamas remains the number one youth programme in the Bahamas providing entrepreneurial and economic training to more than 3,000 students annually in New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco, Eleuthera, Harbour Island, Long Island, Andros, Mangrove Cay and the Berry Islands.

To date, more than 30,000 “achievers” have advanced through the programme with an alumni list of the ‘Who’s Who’ in the Bahamas in just about every industry and sector.
