FREEPORT – Two men were found shot dead on the island of Abaco over the weekend.
The first body was discovered around 3am on Saturday and the second was discovered some six hours later.
Inspector Terecita Pinder, press liaison officer for the northern Bahamas district, said police have launched an intense investigation into the homicides.
A team of officers from the Central Detective Unit in Grand Bahama are assisting police in Abaco with their investigations in the shootings.
According to Ms Pinder, officers were on patrol shortly before 3am in the S C Bootle Highway area when they discovered a light-blue coloured Maxima vehicle through a track road.
A man was discovered slumped over in the passenger seat with gunshot wounds to the body.
Inspector Pinder said EMS personnel were called to the scene and confirmed that the victim was dead.
Shortly after 9am, police received information that the body of a second male had been discovered at Bahama Coral Island.
When police arrived at the scene, they saw the body of a man lying in the street with gunshot wounds to the back of the head.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor at the Marsh Harbour Clinic.
Both men have not been identified.
Inspector Pinder said police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist them with their investigations to call Police in Abaco at 367-2560/ 367 3437, in Grand Bahama 350-3107/8, 911/919 or call the nearest police station.

Could this be retaliation? Drug deal gone bad? Thought this only happened here in Nassau but it looks like it is spreading. Sympathy to the families.
