FREEPORT – Grand Bahama recorded its first homicide for the year on Friday evening when a man was found stabbed to death at his residence in the Lucaya area.
Inspector Terecita Pinder reported that the victim, identified only as a Caucasian male, was discovered shortly after 10pm.
The victim was bound with duct tape and had received multiple stab wounds about the body.
Although police have not released any further details about the victim, it is believed that the man may have been an American resident.
The body was transported by EMS personnel to the Rand Memorial Hospital, where doctors pronounced the man dead.
Inspector Pinder said police are searching for those responsible.
“Police are aggressively investigating this matter and are appealing to the general public for any information that can assist with the investigation,” she said.

TRAFFIC FATALITY
FREEPORT – Grand Bahama recorded its first traffic fatality for the year when 25-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident early Saturday morning.
The accident occurred sometime around 4am on Sunrise Highway Highway, police reported.
According to Inspector Terecita Pinder, the victim was driving a silver-coloured 2002 Honda Civic. While travelling west on the highway, he lost control the vehicle, which went off the road into median and crashed into a tree.
She said the vehicle was extensively damaged and the driver died at the scene.
Police are investigating the accident.
PEDESTRIAN STRUCK
A 59-year-old man is in hospital in serious condition after he was struck by a vehicle in the Freeport area.
The traffic accident occurred around 8pm at West Atlantic Drive involving a white Chevy Venture van.
Inspector Terecita Pinder reported that the pedestrian was walking in an easterly direction across West Atlantic Drive when he was hit.
He was taken to Rand Memorial Hospital, where he is detained for treatment. His condition is listed as serious.
Police are investigating the incident.
