Bahamas pushes Chinese tourism

A strong Bahamian contingent attended the annual trade summit for outbound Chinese tourism.

IFCOT2014 was held in Beijing, co-organised by the Ivy Alliance Tourism Consulting and China Association of Travel Services. It attracted more than 100 Chinese outbound tour operators, 53 media groups, delegations from over 20 countries and 300 participants.

The Bahamas was represented by the Ministry of Tourism’s deputy director-general, Ellison Thompson; the Ministry of Tourism’s director for Asia, Don Cornish; Greg Djerejian, vice-president of Baha Mar; and Bahamaren’s Asia general manager, Joanna Qiao

Bahamaren said it would continue to include the Ministry of Tourism in its China outbound tourism strategy, adding that this market could boost the Bahamian economy by creating wealth and jobs for locals.
