JEHOVAH’S Witnesses are inviting all of their neighbours to attend their annual convention to be held July 11-13 at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at Edmond Street off Dolphin Drive. The theme of this year’s programme is, “Keep Seeking First God’s Kingdom!”

Montgomery Ritchie, a convention spokesman, said: “People of many faiths pray for God’s Kingdom. This convention will explain what that kingdom is and how it can be a positive influence in our lives. A highlight of the programme will be the keynote address on Friday morning, which will discuss how that kingdom is benefiting people today.”

He added: “A core belief of Jehovah’s Witnesses, based on biblical and historical evidence, is that Jesus Christ began to rule as the king of God’s kingdom in 1914. The convention programme marks this year as the centennial of that event.”
Jehovah’s Witnesses have extended personal invitations to everyone from Grand Bahama in the north to New Providence and many of the Family Islands to attend the convention with them. Locally, all of the area’s 27 congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be supporting the activity of distributing printed invitations to the convention. The first of the three-day events to be held in the Assembly Hall will begin today at 9.20am.

A second convention will be held July 18-20. There is no admission fee. Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are supported entirely by voluntary donations. A third convention was held in Freeport, Grand Bahama from July 4-6.

An estimated 3,000 are expected to attend the two successive convention weekends for the Bible-based programmes. Jehovah’s Witnesses in the United States plan to host 193 conventions in 71 cities. Worldwide, there are over 7.900,000 Witnesses in more than 113,000 congregations.
