Superfast videos aid Bimini firms

Resorts World Bimini (RWB) says it is fulfilling its promise to promote Bahamian businesses on the islands on board its Bimini SuperFast cruise ship, with the featured companies already feeling the effects.

The series of five videos, which air on board the ship as it sails from Miami to Bimini, inform passengers of what they can expect on the island in the areas of dining, historical sites and attractions, water sports and ecotourism, sports fishing and accommodations.

Resorts World underwrote the production cost of the videos as a goodwill gesture to the Bimini business community, a promise that was made during a meeting with members of the local government Town Council.

Many business persons have since reported they have been receiving positive feedback from visitors who saw their establishments advertised on the videos.

‘Bonefish’ Ebbie David said: “I just took some people fishing who told me they got to know who I was through the video. People keep telling me about it. I’ve gotten some really positive feedback.”

Nate Hanna, from Nate’s Variety of Bimini Bread, added: “New and old customers are coming in, telling me that they saw me on the ship. Even the new customers are telling me how nice I look in the video, and all I do is laugh and say thanks. I’ve been getting good response from it.”

Resorts World president Dana Leibovitz said the videos were part of Resorts World’s commitment to working in partnership with Biminites.

“We fully support the business community on the island, and this was just another way to demonstrate that,” he said. “Resorts World injects millions of dollars directly into the local economy. However, these videos are providing a substantial indirect impact. When the island succeeds, we succeed, and we are pleased that the business community is benefiting from the videos.”

The Bimini business videos are part of Resorts World’s overall plan to ‘Biminise’ the SuperFast cruise ship experience. One of its restaurants – the Sailfish Bistro - was redecorated to reflect Bimini’s prominence in Sports fishing history.

Resorts World Bimini is operated by the Genting Group, a global company that is the world’s largest destination resorts operator.
