SKEETER Rolle won the Sands ‘Man in the Boat’ sculling races at Treasure Cay, Abaco, over the weekend and a place in the national championships in Nassau in November.
Rolle joins the four other winners from previous rounds in the finale later this year after beating Fernley Cox and M Kelly after the eight heats, which included an all-women’s race.
To start the event a team from the Bahamian Brewery and Beverage, the sponsors, held a boat parade throughout the communities of Abaco, starting at Jimmy’s Wines and Spirits on Bay Street, Marsh Harbour, and ending in Treasure Cay, with the races.
“Our sculling races are becoming a real regatta highlight throughout the Bahamas, and with each sculling race, the excitement shows more and more,” said Lynden Johnson, sales and marketing manager at Bahamian Brewery and Beverage.
“The crowd really enjoyed seeing the sculling boats as we moved around, Abaco and Treasure Cay beach was full by the time the sculling races started.”
