A POLICE officer is recovering in hospital after he was shot by a teenage boy during an arrest on Sunday evening in Elizabeth Estates.
According to police, around 9pm plain clothes officers, acting on intelligence, attempted to arrest the 19-year-old, who they suspected to be in possession of a firearm.
The suspect fired several shots at the officers resulting in one of the officers being hit in the right arm. He was taken to hospital where he is listed in stable condition. A short while later police arrested the suspect in Elizabeth Estates.
Meanwhile, two men are in serious but stable condition after they were shot multiple times Sunday night.
According to police, the two men were sitting at the back of a house on Peter Street at 10pm when they were approached by three men with a handgun. One of the men was shot in his leg, the other in his hip.
The three men fled the area on foot. The two victims were taken to hospital where they are listed in serious, but stable condition.
A short while later police arrested two men ages 36 and 33 in connection with the shooting.

Shooting at and hitting a police officer? Definitely not the brightest thing to do and I don't fancy this kid's chances...
