Did Mr Christie forget again?

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Another year has passed and the government did not see it fit to recommend not a single Bahamian for any honour of Her Majesty, who is still the Head of State of The Bahamas.

Did Mr Christie forget again to put in the recommendations?

Did Mr Christie not wish to give any honours?

One can laugh about this as in contrast Mr Ingraham created his own to the annoyance of St James Palace and we were politely told…stop issuing those things!

Not a single well-deserving Bahamian – that really says something not even the diehard PLP political operative deserved in the eyes of the Prime Minister some rewards for their services.

Of course we have eminently the announcement who will be the new Governor General and, of course, whoever that is gets a knighthood, of course they can refuse then there is the expected retirement of the Chief Justice, same goes here.

Well it seems Christie only has to nominate those people and the rest is automatic, does not need a decision or a recommendation in by a certain time to allow Buckingham Palace enough time to include. The Queen’s official birthday comes on the same day every year – it is noted that although she is the Head of State no celebration ever takes place to coincide with that.

Sorrow for those aspiring Knights - Dames - OBE’s - MBE’s…of the Realm, next time? Don’t wait on that.
