GRAND Bahama recorded its ninth homicide when a 22-year-old Freeport man was shot in the Coral Gardens area on Thursday evening. The victim, who is known as Jared, was shot multiple times in his body and died of his injuries at hospital.
Inspector Terecita Pinder, press liaison officer, said police are searching for the person or persons responsible for this latest homicide, which brings the country’s total to 63 according to The Tribune’s records.
According to police reports, shortly before 11pm police received information that a man was shot in Coral Gardens. On arrival at the scene, officers saw a man running away towards East Sunrise Highway and found him when he collapsed.
The man was transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital by private vehicle. When police arrived at the hospital, they were informed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries.
Inspector Pinder said investigations are continuing and is appealing to anyone who has information to call 350-3107/8, 911/919 or the nearest police station.
