IT was an experience to remember, as Bahamian entrepreneur Rayette McDonald hosted her very first children’s conference.
The event, held recently at the British Colonial Hilton, was hosted under the umbrella of Ms McDonald’s “Esteem Productions”, a company that seeks to elevate the level of self-esteem and self-worth in pre-teen and teenage girls.
The conference catered to children ages five to 11. The “I Am A Promise” conference, Ms McDonald told Tribune Woman, was one to go down in history.
She said it was one of the greatest days in the life of the 50 children who attended.
“From the first minute the children walked through the doors of the British Colonial Hilton they knew that they were in for a day of fun and impartation. Speakers taught the children how to keep God first in their lives, how to pray to their God and how important they are to God,” Ms McDonald said.
She said the parents and mentors were also encouraged to raise their children in the image of God during the parent/child session led by Pastor Ricardo Miller.
The day further included face painting, art and craft projects, choreographed dancing and an all-Bahamian lunch at the Fish Fry.
The children had the opportunity to rub shoulders with the titleholders from the Miss Teen pageants, as both Miss Teen Galaxy Bahamas and Miss Teen Bahamas Petite were both on hand to have fun and frolic with the children.
At the end of the day, Ms McDonald said each participant received a certificate of participation, but better than a certificate, “they left the conference knowing that God can do big things with little people”.
“Parents and children alike are still raving about the experience and are looking forward to next year’s conference that promises to be bigger and better,” Ms McDonald said.
