CHAMPION Amateur Boxing Club hosted ‘The Spirit of Determination’ amateur boxing show at the Platinum Sports Bar & Lounge on Saturday.
Tyrone Oliver won on points over Don Rolle 21-16, Israel Johnson won over Marvin Burrows as the referee stopped the contest in the first round and Shawn Burrows won on points over Davon Hamilton 40-28.
In exhibition matches, Lennox Boyce fought Donovan Taylor, Jonathan Cox fought Antonio Gayle and Donovan Taylor also fought Sayon Campbell.
There was one professional demonstration match between Lester Brown and Jordan De Simone.
The best fight of the night was between Jonathan Cox and Antonio Gayle, the most improved boxer was Shawn Burrows, the most outstanding boxer was Israel Johnson and the sponsor award went to Tyrone Oliver.
Upcoming events include the Wellington ‘Sonny Boy’ Rahming Silver Glove Boxing Tournament scheduled for Saturday, May 31, on the Arawak Cay Fish Fry grounds.

THE New Providence Cycling Association released the following schedule of events for the month of March:
Sunday, March 9 - 8am - Road race start and finish at the Oasis Restaurant
Sunday, March 16 - Road Race, details to be announced
Saturday, March 29 - second annual Road Race - One Day Tour, starting at 7:30am and finishing at Clifton Heritage.
DOUBLES TENNIS
THE eighth annual Tim’s Refrigeration Doubles Tennis Tournament is scheduled to be held at the Knowles Tennis Court in Palmetto Point, Eleuthera, March 22-23.
Competition will be held in the ladies and men’s open doubles and the men’s 60 and over singles. Interested persons can contact tournament director Artie Johnson at 636-6787 or email chefajohnson@yahoo.com.
