Anglican Diocease celebrates its 2014 Lenten mission

The Anglican Diocese of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands will hold its “Lenten Mission 2014” in Grand Bahama and New Providence, as well as in Grand Turk and Providenciales.

This year’s theme is “Serving the Lord with Gladness” (Psalm 100), focusing on stewardship and service in the kingdom of God.

The nightly topics are “Developing the Right Mindset for Ministry”, “Developing a Lay-driven Church” and “Life in God’s Service”.

The mission will feature six local Anglican clergy as preachers in the three locations.

The dates and preachers are as follows:

• Grand Bahama: March 5-7 with an island-wide close-out service on Sunday, March 9 at 5pm, all at the Pro-Cathedral of Christ the King.

Night 1 – Father Whitfield Hutcheson

Night 2 – Rev Marie Roach

Night 3 – Father Ethan Ferguson, close-out service by Bishop Laish Boyd

• New Providence: March 9-11 at the St John’s College Auditorium

Night 1 – Father DeAngelo Bowe

Night 2 – Father Kirkland Russell

Night 3 – Father Tellison Glover

• Grand Turk: March 23 – 25 at the Pro-Cathedral of St Mary and Providenciales; March 24-26 at St Monica’s Church.

Night 1 – Father Whitfield Hutcheson

Night 2 – Rev Marie Roach

Night 3 – Father Ethan Ferguson

Mission services begin at 7pm nightly.

The diocesan-wide event will touch the three major centres in the Diocese. It aims to challenge Anglicans and others to be good stewards by serving their God with gladness in whatever ways they can, using the gifts which they have been given.

The public is invited to share in the mission services.
