POLICE are investigating a suspected drowning at Potter’s Cay Dock Monday morning.
The body of a man, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, was discovered submerged beneath a fishing vessel moored at the South-Eastern section of the dock around 10am.
The head of the Central Detective Unit, Superintendent Paul Rolle said their initial reports suggest that the man was diving up some conch for the start of their day when he failed to surface again.
“Persons went in search of him and this is where they found him. At this stage it does not appear that any foul play is involved. And so we will be transporting him to the Princess Margaret Hospital where an autopsy will be held to determine his exact cause of death.”
The man, who’s identity is being withheld until his next of kin can be notified, was a fisherman on the ‘Freedom’ vessel which is moored at the dock.
