AMID growing tensions in the Ukraine, The Bahamas has issued a statement calling for mediation to resolve the situation.
The results of a referendum held in the Crimea - centre of the current dispute between Ukraine and Russia - has overwhelmingly shown residents backing a secession by the region.
Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted that the vote was legal and consistent with the right of self-determination - but US President Barack Obama said the vote “would never be recognised by the United States”. The UK also rejected the outcome of the vote.
In a statement, the Bahamas Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “The Bahamas again takes note of developments in the Ukraine. We express our concern for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the adherence to the internationally accepted constitutional and legal framework that defines that territory.
“We urge all parties therefore to consider mediation through diplomatic processes to resolve the current difficulties and issues that trouble the Ukraine and its people.”
US officials warned Russia that any further encroachment into parts of Ukraine beyond Crimea would be a grave escalation, requiring additional responses beyond the likely sanctions by the US and the EU.

Im sorry Fred. Even though you are a Foreign Affairs Minister, your words or advice is not going to be acknowledged. The U.S doesn't have a horse in the race, so why was this statement made again? You cannot even acknowledge the answers from your own people, yet who are you to offer advice on how the Ukraine is dealing with their problems? We've got our own problems, and we are still awaiting for a response, yet your colleagues in your department do this??

What do you mean the US doesn't have a horse in this race? Where have you been the last few weeks?

It has nothing to do with them. Their horse is not strong enough or of natural ability to affect that country. The U.S is just trying to intervene because they want to promote their 'peace keeping, democratic agenda' when they know they are in debt and cannot afford a military occupation in that country. The Ukraine was once apart of Russia, and now that it is falling apart, it is only right for Russia, 1 of 3 dominant communist countries in that area, to intervene and protect fellow Russians that tend to make up majority of Crimea's population. Also the black sea is an ocean outlet for Russia that will be very instrumental for them. Crimea's government is falling apart and they are on the verge of neo-nazism. Russia will be their savior. America cannot afford to intervene. Just like America wanting to conquest other countries in dire situations, who are they to tell rival Russia who is neighboring another country with majority of Russians that they cannot intervene and take over as well..?
