FIREFIGHTERS were yesterday tackling a blaze that spread partially onto the compound at the Wilson City BEC complex in Abaco.
No one was injured in the blaze, although the fire did damage pipes stored at the complex after it spread due to undergrowth that had been allowed to develop at the site, it was reported last night.
Initially firefighters feared that the thick black smoke might have been coming from oil at the site, however it was soon established that the smoke was coming from the stored pipes.
The fire was largely dealt with by early evening, with firefighters still at the scene damping down the area.

Gotta love that Bunker C fuel and it being a safe and viable fuel choice!! Abaco's biggest fear was just about realized!! Would have been an environmental disaster of epic proportions!!
