COB showcases 'Rhythm and Soul' of the Bahamas

CELEBRATING Bahamian talent, students at the College of the Bahamas recently hosted a cultural show featuring art, music and food.

The event, called “The Rhythm and Soul of a Nation”, was organised and hosted by the Tourism 316 Special Events, Meetings and Convention Planning class.

The show included artwork from local artist’s like Shawn T, Mecko Gibson, Andrew Knowles and many more. Also on display were magnificent Junkanoo pieces from Barabbas and The Tribe Junkanoo Museum. While the Bahamian cuisine on offer was one of the main features at the cultural show, the highlight of the night were the performances by various Bahamian artists.

Featured in the show was popular singer Julien Believe, who performed his energetic hit single, “The Caribbean Slide.” Meanwhile fire dancer Antonio Johnson captured the audience’s attention with daring stunts.

All performers had the crowd applauding, but it was the Aquinas College band and cheerleading team who stole the show. The band, accompanied by their principal, Shona Knowles, and music teacher Jacob McPhee, brought the crowd to their feet, swaying to the music. The cultural show gave many Bahamian artists, singers, dancers and musicians a chance to display their talent.
