POLICE arrested a 24-year-old man Wednesday night, after he crashed his car into a wall during a high speed chase.
It happened around 6pm.
According to reports, officers from the Southwestern division were on routine patrol on Cowpen Road west, when they saw a man who was driving a silver coloured Mercedes acting suspiciously.
When the suspect saw the officers he sped off. Police pursued the suspect and after a short chase he crashed into a wall on Turtle Drive. Officers arrested the man and recovered a carry-on bag, containing two pounds of marijuana, which he had thrown from the vehicle during the chase.
The suspect is expected to be appear in court today to be formally charged.
Police are also investigating the drowning death of an elderly tourist Wednesday night.
According to reports, the man, who was identified as 75-year-old Henry Borgor, of North Carolina, went swimming around 4:30pm with a group of visitors in waters off Marshall Road west.
They returned to land at about 5:30pm and discovered Mr Borgor was missing.
They began searching for him and discovered his lifeless body floating in the water about half a mile away.
EMS personnel pronounced him dead on the scene.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
