POLICE shot and disarmed a man early yesterday morning, moments after he opened fire outside a local nightclub – critically injuring two men.
It happened around 2am outside Club Waterloo on East Bay Street. Police say they received a report of a suspicious man on the premises of Waterloo. When they arrived on the scene, they saw the suspect firing shots at two men outside the club. Officers shot the suspect multiple times and recovered the handgun as well as a large quantity of ammunition.
The two patrons who were shot by the suspect were taken to hospital where one of them is detained in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.
The suspect was also taken to hospital where he is also detained in critical condition and under heavy police guard.
Investigations are continuing.

In other crime news, a man is recovering in hospital after being shot while wrestling a gun from a man trying to rob him.
It happened around 8pm on Thursday. According to reports, two men were standing at New Hope Drive, when two men armed with a handgun attempted to rob them. A struggle followed resulting in two men being shot, one the victim, the second his attacker.
The victims were also able to disarm one of their attackers during the struggle. The two suspects then ran to a waiting vehicle.
Police later arrested one of the suspects in the Malcolm Road area. He was suffering from a bruised body and a gunshot wound. The injured victim and the suspect were taken to hospital where they are detained in stable condition.
Investigations are continuing.
