Baha Mar: No job loss via Wyndham training conversion

Baha Mar yesterday said no jobs will be lost through its decision to convert the Wyndham Nassau Resort into its training facility as of today.

The property, according to a press statement last night, will become the Crystal Palace Training Hotel, and cease to operate as the Wyndham. The Crystal Palace Casino will remain in operation.

Baha Mar said the hotel will train Bahamians in pursuit of career opportunities at the $2.6 billion Baha Mar development, currently in its final stages of construction. Upon opening, Baha Mar will become one of the country’s largest non-Government employers.

“The Crystal Palace Training Hotel will be a major element in our long-term efforts to help build the country’s tourism infrastructure,” said Paul Pusateri, Baha Mar’s chief operating officer.

“This investment will help ensure that our team members meet Baha Mar’s highest service standards, and provide our employees the opportunity to develop new skills and advance their careers.”

Banquet halls, meeting rooms and other facilities at the Crystal Palace Training Hotel will serve as training and serving areas, becoming a key part of Baha Mar’s multi-million-dollar hospitality training effort that includes the casino dealer school scheduled to open in July 2014.
