Bahamas Cycling Club. - New Providence continues its road cycling race series this Sunday, starting and finishing at The Cove, West Bay Street. The starting time is 7:20am, with the main distance being 46 miles. The cyclist will head east along West Bay Street, pass Sandyport, Cable Beach and Baha Mar, Goodman’s Bay beach, on to Saunders Beach, right at the roundabout at Saunders onto the highway and JFK Drive, along JFK drive, straight into Old Fort Bay, on to Lyford Cay, South West Road, Clifton Pier, on to South Ocean Blvd, pass Albany, right off South Ocean Blvd and on to Frank Watson Hwy, left onto Adeliade Road heading to Coral Harbour, right at Coral Harbour roundabout and on to Inner Field Airport Road. Continue until you reach the first roundabout at Lynden Pindling Airport, right at that roundabout coming out to the roundabout at JFK Drive opposite the Police Station. The cyclist will turn right at this point and head along JFK Drive. The cyclist will travel west along JFK Drive until they reach the roundabout at Bahamar Blvd. At this time, the cyclist will turn left onto West Bay Street/Cable Beach, they will continue on West Bay Street along the waterfront and head back to The Cove.
The other levels - Junior Boys/Girls, Novice and Open women will cover some 24 miles from the start/finish area and head strainght along West Bay Street to Clifton Pier around Frank Watson Hwy, Airport Road, JFK Drive, Blake Road and finishing back at The Cove.
There will spot/sprint prizes thoroughout the race, and special prizes for the cyclists who can solo to victory ahead of the pelton on the main field of cyclists.
Categories: Sr I, II, III 46 miles, top 10 cyclists will receive gifts, entry fee $10. Registration at race site from 6:50am until race time; Open Women, 24 miles, top three, $8.

Eastern Community Association. - Prime Minister Perry Christie will tomorrow officially open the Spring Festival, held by the Eastern Community Association in conjunction with the Eastern Division of the Royal Bahamas Police Force. The event will be held at Winton Meadows Park (Holly Road) off Meadows Boulevard, and will feature antique vehicles, the Royal Bahamas Police Focre fire engine, police dogs, music, church and school performances, a Junkanoo rushout, fireworks, food, games and more. The event runs from noon until 11pm, with the official opening at 5pm.
Rotary Club of East Nassau and Scout Association of The Bahams. - The Rotary Club of East Nassau and The Scout Association of The Bahamas will be staging their 28th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, May 12, at the Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island, an event that is the major fundraiser for both clubs and which has become a staple in the Bahamian golfing calendar.
All net proceeds from the event go to support the Scout Association of the Bahamas and the numerous community service projects of the Rotary Club of East Nassau such as Project Read, the Bahamas Association for the Disabled, the Aids Foundation and the Bahamas Breast Cancer Initiative Foundation.
The event organisers are delighted to have Nagico Insurances on board as this years platinum sponsor. Gold sponsors of this year’s tournament are Atlantis, High Tor, Odyssey Aviation, Pinalen All Purpose Cleaner, RBC Royal Bank, Royal Star Assurance, Scotiabank and The Tribune.
The tournament format is a two-man scramble with a shotgun start with the registration fee being $500 per team.

Rotary and Rotaract clubs of East Nassau. - This past weekend, the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of East Nassau played in their annual softball match in a show of good sportsmanship and to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation. Rotaract, whose members are thirty years old and younger, handily won the game, beating the older Rotarians by 15 runs after six innings.
“We really play the game to have fun. In the end, we raise funds for the Rotary Foundation and it’s the community that wins,” said Philip Cumming, President of the Rotary Club of East Nassau.
