Number of arrests in police operation

POLICE announced a number of arrests yesterday of individuals wanted for serious crimes - including two people wanted in connection with a murder.

The arrests took place as part of a massive police operation across New Providence.

Among those arrested was Tamicko Williams, 22, of Podoleo Street, who had been the subject of a wanted notice by police for escaping custody from the Grove Police Station on Friday. He is a suspect in an armed robbery and burglary.

Additionally, a 22-year-old man of Faith Avenue was arrested by officers for harbouring a fugitive.

The two men who were detained in connection with a murder were a 17-year-old from Ragged Island Street and a 19-year-old from Palmetto Avenue. Both are wanted following a murder on Moore Avenue.

Officers also detained nine men, aged 16-43, from Ida Street, in connection with a shooting incident in Montell Heights.

A 29-year-old man, of Pinewood Gardens, was held for breach of the Liquor License Act, as was a 21-year-old woman from Andros Avenue.

A 21-year-old man from Minnie Street was detained by officers for causing harm.

Police also detained two men for oustanding court warrants - one 32-year-old man from Fire Trail Road and another 32-year-old man from Eastern Estates.

Three people were arrested by officers for causing grevious harm - the first a 24-year-old man from Montell Heights, the second a 28-year-old man from Marathon Estates and the third a 19-year-old man from Cox Burn Street.

Three more men were arrested for firearms offences, the first a 21-year-old from Yellow Elder Gardens, the second a 24-year-old from Soldier Road and the third a 26-year-old from Nassau Village.

Finally, a 24-year-old man from Blair Estates was detained for breach of the Immigration Act.

Police said that they wish to thank members of the public for their role in helping to capture these suspects.
