BAHAMIAN mixed martial artist Yves Edwards will have to wait longer than he anticipated for an opportunity to step back into the octagon and regain a spot in the win column.
Edwards was origanlly scheduled to face Piotr Hallmann at UFC 173 on May 24. However, the bout has been moved to UFC Fight Night 42 on June 7.
UFC Fight Night 42 will take place at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The main event will feature former lightweight champion Benson Henderson squared off against Rustam Khabilov.
Hallmann, 26, has established a 14-2 professional record and made his UFC debut on September 4, 2013.
He built a 10-fight win streak before he lost in his last outing to Al Iaquinta by unanimous decision.
Edwards has a professional record of 42-20-1 MMA, 10-9 UFC.
In his latest outing, Edwards was defeated in the ring by Yancy Medeiros in the preliminary round of the under card of UFC Fight Night 31:UFC Fight for the Troops 3 on November 6, 2013 at Fort Campbell in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
However, the fight was later ruled a “no contest” after Mederios tested positive for a banned substance. Before the “no contest” he had lost his last two fights and lost four of his last five.
His last win came in December, 2012, with a knockout win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC on Fox 5.
In January, Edwards hosted an MMA seminar at the Empire Mixed Martial Arts Bahamas Gym located at J-Line Fitness Bahamas.
In the approximately four-hour session, Edwards covered a myriad of topics, including the basics of MMA striking, wrestling, “ground and pound” and cage drills with over a dozen fighters.
