JBLN ACTION
THE Junior Baseball League of Nassau, with just two more
weeks left in the regular season, completed week 13 over the weekend at the St Andrew’s Field of Dreams. Unfortunately, Sunday’s senior league games were rained out and will be played this week. Here’s a look at the schedule of games:
5pm Wednesday -
Braves vs Bluejays
5pm Thursday -
Nationals vs Braves
5pm Friday - Bluejays vs
Giants
The playoff picture in the various divisions are as follows:
Tee Ball
Avengers won the pennant. The Hot Fries have clinched second spot. The Grasshoppers and Sand Gnats are deadlocked for the third playoff position.
Coach Pitch
The Diamondbacks won the pennant. The Cubs will play the Angels in the elimination game.
Minor Division
The Pirates won the pennant. The Red Sox clinched second place. The Astros have a one-game lead on the Rockies for third place.
Major Division
The Reds have a half-game lead over the Twins for the pennant. The pennant should be decided on May 10 when the Twins are slated to take on the Reds. The Indians have secured third place and will play one of those teams in the elimination game.
Junior Division
Even though the pennant has yet to be decided, with two games left, the Yankees have a one-game lead. The Phillies (one game back) and the Dodgers (one and-a-half games back) are still alive for the pennant. All three teams have qualified for the playoffs.
Senior Division
The Nationals and Brewers are tied for first place and both teams have qualified for the playoffs. The Braves currently hold a one-game lead for the third position over the Giants and the Bluejays. The third spot should be determined after this week’s play of re-scheduled games.
Softball Division
The Hippers have clinched the pennant, while the Spice Girls have secured second place. Third place will be determined on Saturday when the Crushers are scheduled to face the Spice Girls. A win by the Crushers will give them third place and the final playoff position.
