A MAN was crushed to death on Sunday in a freak accident involving an excavator at a scrap metal yard on Joe Farrington Road.

When police arrived on the scene, they were told that an excavation machine had fallen on one of the workers, crushing him. He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries a short time later.
Police say they are still unsure how the accident happened or the exact cause of the man’s death. The Tribune attempted to contact the owners, but the junkyard was closed. Investigations are continuing.
