A MAN who celebrated his birthday just two days ago became the country’s latest homicide when siblings found his lifeless and bloodied body inside a residence off Cowpen Road yesterday.
Linda Pierre told reporters at Nairn’s Gardens yesterday that discovering her brother, 30-year-old Hendrich Clazer, also known as “Trigger”, with multiple wounds about his body and blood everywhere was “a sight to see”.
She said his death has left relatives questioning why anyone would take such a fun-loving individual’s life.
Police said they were not sure whether the victim was shot or stabbed to death. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 10am and said Clazer was slumped over on a couch in the front section of a small wooden structure. He lived with his brother.
The incident also took place a day after Clazer observed the anniversary of his mother’s death.
“I had a break so I say ‘let me just come here’ because I had promised him some money,” Ms Pierre said.
“The people was cooking breakfast and I said ‘well where is Trigger?’. They was like he probably still home sleeping. So I say I have some money for him, but the rocks were a little too high so I stayed back.
“So my little brother five minutes later came running back saying he is dead, he is dead.
“I say what you mean he is dead? I went running too and when I went in I just saw his lifeless body just lying there full of blood. Full of holes. I didn’t know whether he got shot or stabbed because there was blood everywhere.”
As authorities lifted Clazer’s body from the house, scores of relatives and neighbours gathered. Some among them screamed and cried out. Onlookers said at the scene that a woman was seen leaving the victim’s home sometime before the discovery was made. It was speculated that his death might have been the result of a domestic dispute, although police said they could not confirm that detail.
Superintendent Stephen Dean said while police were in the preliminary phases of their investigations, they had no motive associated with the incident. He appealed to members of the public to assist police.
“To members of the public, particularly to members of the community who might have been canvassing this area, who might have been walking, who might have heard something, who might have known the gentleman, to please contact us with the slightest information. No matter how small the information might seem. We want you to call the police emergency line or contact us at Crime Stoppers. We promise that we will hold your information as confidential.
“We need to bring the person or persons to justice. Someone knows what is happening. We continue to put out the appeal to persons who are involved in disputes to seek some sort of resolution.”
Up to press time last night, authorities said they had no suspects in custody.
