SENSI Serge Bouyssou and his family will compete at the Bahamas Judo Open on Saturday, May 10.
They met up with Bahamian judoka Cynthia Rahming at the US Senior Nationals in Reno, Nevada, last week. Rahming trained with coach Bouyssou in 2010 in Singapore at the Youth Olympic Games and at his school in Rhode Island.
“It was good to see coach Serge and his fighters,” said Rahming, who continues to show steady improvement with a 5th place finish overall in the US Senior Nationals.
She spent the last five months training in San Jose University with Olympic bronze medallist Marty Malloy and former world champion Aiko Sato.
Bouyssou has five children who are all nationally ranked judo fighters. His son Everette just won the US Senior Open Championships and his daughter Katelyn is the 2010 US Youth Olympic gold medallist. “We are coming to the Bahamas for friendship, judo and culture.” said Bouyssou.
Rahming will reunite with the Bouyssou family again at the Bahamas Open. “Judo creates many friends from around the world, so I am glad that they are supporting the Bahamas Judo Open.”
The Bahamas Open is scheduled for 2-5pm May 10 at The Kendal GL Isaacs National Gymnasium. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from bahjudo.com
