ABOUT 2,500 marijuana plants, with an estimated street value of $250,000, have been discovered in Crossing Rock, Abaco, police reported yesterday.
Abaco Police discovered the marijuana field around 9:30am on Tuesday, said Inspector Terecita Pinder, police press liaison officer in the northern Bahamas.
She said officers at Marsh Harbour received information and went to an area in Crossing Rocks, South Abaco, where they discovered the plants, growing up to six feet in height.
A 71-year-old male resident of Crossing Rock was arrested in connection with the find. Inspector Pinder said police are actively investigating the matter.
She said they are also searching for 45-year-old Delroy Everton Miller of Crossing Rock, Abaco, and Westmoreland, Jamaica.
He is wanted by the Drug Enforcement Unit in Abaco for cultivation of marijuana plants. Miller is about 5ft 9in of medium build. He has short hair and brown complexion. He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
