POLICE are reportedly investigating one of their own after a 22-year-old Abaco woman was badly beaten earlier this week.
The victim was airlifted to New Providence for medical treatment, according to police reports yesterday.
Inspector Terecita Pinder said a 30-year-old man was in custody assisting police with their investigations. She did not confirm whether a police officer was involved in the incident that took place Tuesday evening.
However, sources close to the matter have confirmed that the alleged suspect is a police officer.
An official police report on the incident was not released until yesterday.
In her statement, Mrs Pinder said police received reports that a woman was at a residence in Forrest Drive around 9.30pm when she was reportedly beaten about the body by a man she knows.
The victim was taken to the Marsh Harbour Government Clinic where she was seen by a doctor, and later flown to New Providence for further medical attention.
