ZNS General Manager Edwin Lightbourne has expressed satisfaction over the broadcasting network’s weekend coverage of the IAAF World Relays event despite a transmission problem on Sunday.

“I thought the team did an extremely good job overall,” he told The Tribune yesterday.

“This was the first world-class event we’ve ever done and it was done under the auspices of the IAAF. Technically, it went off with very few hitches.”

Mr Lightbourne said that although the broadcast was “perfect” on Saturday, it was occasionally disrupted on Sunday by a transmission problem. The pictures sometimes became overlaid with grey as numbers streamed by while live images of the event at the national stadium was still being displayed in the background.

“On Sunday there was a transmission problem from the stadium to the studios,” Mr Lightbourne explained. “It had nothing to do with the feed. Engineers were working to resolve it.”

Mr Lightbourne said the event was successfully produced despite the short time it took his team to learn how to operate new, recently installed equipment.

Adding that ZNS was also responsible for producing the broadcast on giant screens inside the stadium, Mr Lightbourne said his team is looking forward to producing the 2015 event.
