AFTER a successful start in Nassau this August, the Music, Model & Talent Showcase of the Islands (MMTS) is now heading to Grand Bahama.
The new and exciting talent-scouting event uniquely designed to bring global attention to the vast talent pool in the Bahamas and the Caribbean will make its stop in Freeport this Saturday.
According to Island MMTS CEO and founder Pia Glover-Rolle, the support and participation to date has been overwhelming.
Island MMTS kicked off in New Providence on August 16 and moved on to Abaco on September 20. Auditions were also held in Belize on October 4, Suriname on October 18 and Anguilla on October 25 – all attracting talented participants between the ages of five to 65, men and women.
Freeport auditions will be held at 12noon at the Sir Jack Hayward High School. Auditions are open to models, actors, singers, songwriters and music producers. Registration is required at IslandMMTS.com
Mrs Glover-Rolle said she is overwhelmed by the support of the Caribbean region for this inaugural Island MMTS event.
Before a panel of judges and Island MMTS regional scouts applicants will be judged on: modelling, singing, acting, music production and songwriting.
The successful applicant from each audition session will be assigned a coach who will engage them in mandatory training for the inaugural week-long MMTS conference scheduled for July 13 to 19, 2015 at the Meli Nassau Beach Resort.
The event is already creating buzz in the ears of top international fashion and talent scouts, personal managers, casting directors, booking agents, record labels, modelling and talent agencies, as well as with Grammy Award-winning producers and songwriters, who will judge MMTS competitions and conduct seminars, all the while searching for new and unique talents in these respective areas.
Additionally, agents from US, Europe, South Africa, China and Canada will spend a week in the Bahamas scouting for new talent from the participating Caribbean islands, offering contracts and representation opportunities.
Some very recognisable names in the industry are already confirmed and excited to participate. Some 34 countries including the Bahamas have already confirmed their interest and participants. On board are: Anguilla, Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Curacao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Croix, St John, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Maarten, St Thomas, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Tortola, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turks and Caicos.
MMTS is being billed as a one-of-a-kind event for the islands, and is the only modelling and talent showcase in the world specifically targeting the Caribbean market.
MMTS organisers are projecting next year’s conference to generate approximately 1,500 stopover visitors to Nassau.
