HUMAN skeletal remains were discovered Tuesday morning in West End, Grand Bahama, police reported yesterday. The remains were found around 8am on Tuesday about 500ft in the bushes from the West End Government Clinic.
Inspector Terecita Pinder said that a male resident of West End alerted the police. Officers from the West End Police station, Central Detective Unit and Scenes of Crime Unit were dispatched to the scene to investigate.
A doctor from the West End Clinic was also called to the scene. Police have not said whether the skeletal remains are that of a man or woman and have not indicated whether foul play is suspected.
Morticians took the remains to the Rand Memorial Hospital morgue, where an autopsy will be held to determine the cause of death.
Meanwhile, a 48-year-old West End resident remains missing. Melissa Wilchcombe, of the Bight, West End, was reported missing to the police on October 26. She was last seen on October 21, wearing black and white short pants and a sleeveless yellow and white blouse, with a black pair of sandals.
She is about 5ft 4in, average build and weighs 125–135lbs, with medium brown complexion. Police are appealing to anyone who knows of her whereabouts to call 350-3107/8, 911/919 or the nearest police station.
