Baha Mar recently hosted members of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) during a two-day forum that was the forerunner for the first-ever Sino-Americas Summit. This will be held at Baha Mar in July 2015.
The forum was attended by Ryan Pinder, minister of financial services; Yuan Guisen, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Bahamas; and members of the Bahamas Investment Authority. The CCPIT operates in the same manner as a Chamber of Commerce, promoting China’s international business interests by developing cooperation and exchanges with other countries.
Ties
The recent forum, and the upcoming Sino-Americas Summit, is designed to build stronger business ties between China and the Americas. The forum also took place as the Ministry of Financial Services pushes to strengthen the business and political relationships between China and the Bahamas.
“Attracting partners such as the CCPIT is another way that Baha Mar is delivering on our promise to transform our country. In many ways, the Bahamas is the gateway to the Americas and, as a global destination, Baha Mar speaks the language of the global economy,” Tom Dunlap, Baha Mar’s president, said.
“We are proud to be the premier location for leaders to share innovative ideas with their counterparts from around the world, and build key partnerships that help to grow our economy.”
Richard Burns, chairman of the Latin Trade Group, added: “Until now, China and the Americas have not had a neutral home for this important dialogue.
“Baha Mar, because of its historic partnership with its Chinese investment and construction partners, is the natural venue for this dialogue, and Latin Trade is proud to bring these two parts of the world together in a timely way.”
Valuable
The Sino-Americas Summit is expected to create valuable business opportunities between China and the Americas. It is an ‘invitation only’ event, scheduled for July 2015, and is intended to be an ‘Economic Forum for the Americas’.
The Summit will attract more than 200 international leaders in business and government, including chief executives, Cabinet ministers and multilateral executives from China and throughout the Latin America and the Caribbean.
The event will be produced by the Latin Trade Group, a media and event company that provides global business information for corporate and government leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Latin Trade Group also produces a number of meetings for regional business, government and social leaders.
