MINISTER of Social Services and Community Development Melanie Griffin launched “Women’s Week” with remarks at the morning worship service at the Church of God of Prophecy, East Street, on Sunday.
The special week runs from November 23 to 29.
Yesterday, Minister Griffin headed a delegation to Grand Bahama to participate in a number of events.
Mrs Griffin was expected to pay a courtesy call on the Minister for Grand Bahama Dr Michael Darville and the two women administrators on Grand Bahama, Brenda Bullard Colebrooke (West Grand Bahama District) and Debra Cox Strachan (East Grand Bahama), in addition to calling on the Chief Councillor for Freeport Chervita Campbell.
Deputy Director of Social Services with responsibilities for Grand Bahama Lillian Quant Forbes said that in commemoration of the occasion a special showing of the video documentary on the Women’s Suffrage Movement, “Womanish Ways, Freedom, Human Rights and Democracy” by noted writer and poet Marion Bethel, will be held.
