HUMAN skeletal remains, discovered on Abaco this week, have been flown to New Providence for laboratory testing and evaluation, according to a senior police official on the island.
The bones were discovered partially buried in a bushy area east of Wilson City in South Abaco early on Tuesday morning.
According to Superintendent Noel Curry, who heads the Abaco district, the skeletal remains were discovered by a group of men who went into the bushes to hunt. He said at this point in the investigation police are not sure if the remains are from a male or female or how the person died.
“We got a call … and were directed to a bushy area in Wilson City, where persons were hunting and came across skeletal remains,” he said.
When asked the condition of the remains, he said police did not find a fully intact skeleton. He also said police believe the remains had been there for some time.
“We are still in the initial stages of the investigation and the bones have been sent into New Providence for testing,” Supt Curry said.
“There was no skin or anything on the bones so we know that they have been there for some time. You know when you are talking about bones you are talking about a serious lapse of time. We just know that people were in the area hunting around 7am on Tuesday when they came across the bones and then our forensic team went in and collected them.
“We sent them to Nassau for additional tests and we should know something soon and then our investigations can continue.”

If it's murder, someone is actually walking around with that guilt. Will be watching this story unfold.
