A MAN died in hospital on Wednesday hours after he was shot in the face, police said yesterday.

His death brings the year’s murder count to 90, according to The Tribune’s records.

Police said that around 9:30am on Wednesday, a 42-year-old male resident of Old Cedar Street in Yellow Elder was standing in his yard when he was accosted by two men wearing cloths around their faces.

Both suspects were reportedly armed with handguns.

The gunmen shot their weapons in the direction of the victim, striking him in the face, police said.

EMS personnel responded to the scene and took the man to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where he died around 4:30pm Wednesday.

According to Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade, the victim’s next of kin had not yet identified the deceased yesterday.

The man’s identity has not been released.
