SPREADING the message to high school students that drugs are not the answer to daily problem solving, the Ministry of National Security made a special presentation at Anatol Rodgers High School this week as part of its drug awareness campaign.
Under the theme “Drug Free, The Way to Be” the Ministry gave the students a demonstration and exhibition to increase their awareness of the dangers of drugs.
Shervin Lloyd, Demand Reduction Officer at the Ministry, explained to the students that promoting drug awareness is just as important as law enforcement and interdiction of drug offences that eventually lead to arrests and prison terms.
“If I did it, you can,” Mr Lloyd, a former government high school pupil, said. “I also know whatever you can perceive you can achieve. There is absolutely no limitation to our lives. But, I’ll tell you this – you put limitation on your life when you use drugs or get involved in criminal activities. It is not cool, getting involved with such destructive behaviour.
“Therefore, students, when you view this anti-drug exhibition take this message ‘Drug Free is the Way to Be’ and live accordingly.”
