A 22-year-old man became the country’s latest murder victim early yesterday morning after he was gunned down in Nassau Village.

It is the second murder in 48 hours and the country’s 91st for the year, according to Tribune records.

According to police reports, shortly before 1am, the victim was at Williams Street with a group of other men when he was approached by a man with a gun and shot multiple times.

No one else was shot during the incident. The victim was taken to hospital and died a short time later.

Police have not identified the victim, but The Tribune understands he is 22-year-old Jermaine Eric Minnis.

According to police sources, Minnis was shot last month in Montell Heights and was recently released from hospital.

The murder comes a day after Alden Shavalo Miller, 31, aka “Bolo”, was shot to death outside his residence.

Police say Miller was at Thompson Lane around 10:30pm when he was approached by a man carrying a handgun. He was shot multiple times in the chest. The suspect fled the area on foot.

Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police are also investigating another shooting incident that left a man in serious condition in hospital.

Around 1am, the victim was at Fritz Lane, off East Street, when the occupants of a silver coloured Honda shot him multiple times before speeding off. He was taken to hospital by ambulance and is listed in serious condition.

Anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.
