POLICE are appealing for public assistance in finding the culprits behind five armed robberies that occurred in New Providence in under 24 hours over the weekend.
The string of robberies began on Friday afternoon shortly after 5:30pm when two gunmen robbed a woman in front of her Winton Estates home. The armed men stole the victim’s 2013 Kia Sportage and escaped in the car.
Three hours later, a woman was at an eatery in Oakes Field when two gunmen robbed her of her cell phone before fleeing on foot.
Then around 1:30am on Saturday, two gunmen robbed a West Bay Street business of cash before fleeing the scene.
Twelve hours later, police then received reports of another armed robbery that occurred shortly before 2pm Saturday at a clothing store on Cordeaux Avenue.
Officers were told that two men, armed with a shotgun, robbed a woman of her handbag, which contained a small amount of cash before fleeing on foot.
And then shortly after 3pm, officers received reports that two gunmen held up a Bernard Road business and stole cash.
Police are appealing for anyone with information that might help solve these robberies to anonymously call 919 or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) on New Providence or 1-242-300-8476 in the Family Islands.
