EMBATTLED Ft Charlotte MP Dr Andre Rollins appeared before a Progressive Liberal Party disciplinary committee last night, accompanied by lawyer and former PLP Chairman Raynard Rigby.
Last night, Mr Rigby would not reveal details about the meeting, but did say he was approached by Dr Rollins to provide “some degree of counsel” due to his previous executive position within the PLP.
As reported previously by The Tribune, Dr Rollins faces a two-year suspension from the party. When asked if this was a likely outcome from the proceedings, Mr Rigby said it is a “premature” question.
Dr Rollins can also be refused a nomination in the 2017 general election or be reprimanded by the PLP’s National General Council based on a report from the disciplinary committee.
“It’s an internal party process,” Mr Rigby said. “There is nothing much to say, it was the first meeting and we dealt with some procedural issues.
“It’s essentially an internal party process not designed to be bantered about in the public domain,” he added. “So one has to respect the organs of the party and go through the process outlined in the (PLP) constitution.
“In our further meetings we will deal with the substance of the complaint (against Dr Rollins).”
The group is headed by PLP Stalwart Councillor Valentine Grimes.
Last night, Mr Grimes would not say if Dr Rollins made any submissions before the committee. He would only say the group has another hearing set for later this week.
Last week, party Chairman Bradley Roberts said the committee should rule on Dr Rollins by the end of the month.
The disciplinary committee was formed recently to determine the political fate of the former Gaming Board chairman following several scathing rebukes of the Christie administration and Prime Minister Perry Christie that he made in the House of Assembly.

I could be wrong but I think Rollins is secretly hoping to be fired from the PLP.

Dr. Rollins has nothing to lose and everything to gain by leaving the PLP!
The PLP are total failures in the mind of majority of Bahamians and has long lost touch with the electorate who only voted them in anyway because Hubert Ingraham and the FNM were on a very fast track to ruining the country and the DNA wasn't totally ready.

So based on your assessment, what is the viable option in 2017?

First step is to get all of these VERY corrupt Government Officials and their crony public servants out of office and hopefully into Fox Hill Prison. Only after that we us Bahamians have a constituent or party to vote for. Unfortunately at the moment the FNM are in total shambles and don't stand a chance of election and the DNA just don't have many, if any, members that are ready or able. It looks like we won't have anyone to vote for in the next elections.
On the bright side, it means no jury duty for five years (unless of course the police barge into local financial institutions again and force people to report for jury duty, like they did a couple of weeks ago).

Firstly, we should not wait for 2017!
Both PLP & FNM have unquestionably failed miserably, and must not be allowed another mandate to further mismanage our country.
The best course of action, and only solution is to begin a national dialog to reach a common census that defines how and what needs to be done to redirect our country in the interest of the many instead of just the top 1% that enslave us now.
In light of not having a 3rd viable political option in place to date, we will have to put the cart before the horse and have meaningful dialog on resolving pressing issues.
A political party is not important at this stage. But will eventually evolve after general census defines the way forward.
