Comets earn wins

By RICARDO WELLS

THE Queen’s College Comets made quick work of the Charles W Saunders Cougars yesterday thanks to a fine performance by starting pitcher Daalan Adderley. The Comets needed only three innings to tame the Cougars 14-4.

Despite their best efforts the Cougars could not get their defence into gear, with pitcher Jason Woods lasting only one and a third innings after giving up seven runs to start the game. The switch to Maneko Cartwright yielded the same result.

Cartwright walked a total of seven hitters, three for scores in the bottom of the third inning.

The Comets seemed to convert all of the Cougars’ woes into points, cashing in on every opportunity. Adderley called his team’s offensive production “key” to their big win.

“Our offence was good today, we were on our game.” added Adderley, who hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first.

The 14-point outing was the Comets’ highest this season.

Next for the Comets is the Big Red Machine of St Augustine’s College tomorrow while the Cougars try to recover against the Nassau Christian Academy Crusaders next Tuesday.
