THEY are known as some of the most prolific hitmakers in the Bahamas, and now Dillon “D-Mac” McKenzie and MDeez are joining forces to launch a one-of-kind nightclub experience for mature party-goers.
The duo have taken over the newly renovated Club 601, now called the Impulse Lounge, and are preparing for their grand opening on November 7.
D-Mac said this new club will be plush, sexy and like no other.
“The reason for doing this club is that we realised there was no club like this in town, one that caters to mature people. Not necessarily old people or grown folks, but mature people that are just looking to go out and have good, clean fun in a secure environment,” said D-Mac.
He said Impulse will feature a live band and DJ entertainment, as well as native shows throughout the day for tourists to enjoy.
“I have been involved in clubs before like Da Dilly Tree, so I am very familiar with the club and lounge atmosphere. I know what Bahamians are looking for, so we plan to be consistent in terms of our level of service and music that we are going to give to the Bahamian public.
“A lot persons these days (fear for their safety) and we want them to know that the environment is – especially for the ladies – top notch and the parking lot is secured,” said D-Mac.
The entertainer said they couldn’t ask for a better location than East Bay Street, which it is in walking distance from downtown and the Sir Sydney Poitier Bridge area.
“When 601 first started years ago this was the club to come to, and so we are bringing that back and even bigger and better.
However,to separate the old 601 and us, the concept that we are going after and what we have to offer is a new experience.
This is the top notch club of the Bahamas and also what we are focusing on as well in regards to the arts and entertainment, we have young persons who are going to be doing most of the entertainment,” he said.
D-Mac said the club’s programme will also include nights on which magicians walk through the crowd doing magic shows, where models strut their stuff and comedy acts perform from time to time.
“We are encouraging young persons who want to be a part of this journey to join us in this opportunity for their advertisement,” said D-Mac.
