ONE of the country’s latest murder victims was out on bail and wearing an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet, Supt Paul Rolle said yesterday.

Police have identified the victim as Eric Michael Martin.

The 21-year-old, of Hospital Lane, was shot and killed on the same street where he lived.

Mr Rolle, head of the Central Detective Unit, said while police are following significant leads into Martin’s murder, investigations are continuing.

He was one of two men who was murdered within six hours on Monday. The second man has been identified as 21-year-old Shaquan Stuart Wray of Myrton Avenue. He too was shot in the neighbourhood where he lived, off Farrington Road

“We don’t have a motive for the murders just yet,” Supt Rolle said, “but when we do we will be able to say more. Regarding the Hospital Lane murder, we are following significant leads. I don’t want to say anything else, because I have already met with his family.

“The other murder victim, we don’t have any leads right now.”

Martin was killed after 8pm. Police said the victim was walking on Hospital Lane when men in a red SUV pulled up and shot at him before speeding off. He died at the scene. When police arrived, they were met with aggrieved relatives and friends of the victim who were “hostile” towards officers, he said.

The crowd cursed at police and were rowdy, but Supt Dean said officers were able to diffuse the situation.

Wray, police said, was shot multiple times just before 3pm. The Tribune understands the victim was washing his car when he was hit by bullets. He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

Although police said on Monday that they were investigating a non-fatal shooting at Montell Heights, Mr Rolle said such reports were unconfirmed.

Earlier this month, on October 8, another man, a father of three, was killed when he was shot several times.

Alden Shavalo Miller, 31, aka “Bolo”, was at a residence at Thompson Lane around 10:30pm when he was approached by a man carrying a handgun, according to police.

Miller, of Thompson Lane, was shot multiple times in the chest. The suspect fled the area on foot. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

So...ummm..err when these persons get killed, gunned down or otherwise...do they use these monitoring bracelets on some one else?. What about when the person dies of a disease or a body is found somewhere in a severe state of decomposition?
