THE defending champions Sigma Brackettes proved that they are not quite ready to give up their New Providence Softball Association ladies championship crown to the Sigma Wildcats.
Down 2-0 and 4-3 in game three of the Carl ‘Bang Bang’ Johnson’s best-of-seven championship series that was halted in the top of the fifth inning Tuesday night because of the rain, the Brackettes managed to come back for a 9-8 victory in 10 innings on Saturday night. They then lost 19-7 in the wee hours of Sunday night to the Wildcats to trail 3-1. However, the Brackettes came on Sunday night and in another marathon encounter, won 17-15 to trim the deficit to 3-2. They will come back tonight to play game six at 7:30pm in the Banker’s Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex. The winner of the series will join the Arnette’s Sporting Lounge Hitmen, who repeated as the men’s champions with a four-game sweep over the Sting Truckers, in the Bahamas Softball Federation’s National Round Robin Championship.
The championships is scheduled to start Thursday night at the same venue with the NPSA champions taking on the champions from Andros, Abaco, Eleuthera and Grand Bahama.
