AS the Banker’s Softball League paid tribute to Sam Haven, his team - the Scotiabank Wheelers - out-slugged Commonwealth Bank 23-19 on Saturday as the Banker’s Softball League continued its regular season in the Banker’s Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.
In a press release, the league noted that Haven, a son, a brother, a husband, a father, an uncle, a sports enthusiast, a team player, a banker, a coach and a friend, will be missed after he died last Thursday morning in Florida after a battle with cancer.
Haven, 61, was an active member on the Bankers Athletic Association’s Board as a director for about 40 years. He was also the head coach for the Scotiabank Wheelers softball team.
A moment of silence was offered in memory of Haven on Saturday, prior to the Wheelers pulling off the win over Commonwealth Bank.
