Crimestoppers and Cybots victorious

THE Police Crimestoppers and the Bamboo Shack Cybots both won at the DW Davis Gymnasium Monday night to secure their showdown in the Bahamas Government Departmental Basketball Association’s best-of-seven championship series set to start tonight.

In a match-up between the two law enforcement agencies, Police handcuffed the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Marines 83-75, while Bamboo Shack knocked off the Airport Authority 96-70 in game three of their best-of-five semifinal series to set up the final between Crimestoppers and Cybots.

Crimestoppers 83, Marines 75

Mark Hanna exploded for a game high 29 points with nine rebounds to lead the Police to victory. Vernon Stubbs scored 15 points with 10 rebounds and Bernard Bonaby finished with 13 points and three rebounds.

In a losing effort, Otis Ferguson Jr had 13 points and five rebounds in the loss. Delvonn Duncombe had 11 points and five rebounds and Elway Pickstock and Lyndrick Storr each had nine points with five and three rebounds respectively.

Cybots 96, Authority 70

Eugene Bain pumped in a game high 34 points with 10 rebounds to lead Bamboo Shack to victory. Georgio Walkes added 16 points and Randy Ferguson (seven rebounds), Billy Sands (five rebounds) and Brian Bain (four rebounds) all chipped in with eight points.

For the Airport in the loss, Devonn Brennen scored 21 points with nine rebounds, Cecil Mackey had 12 points, John Smith 10 points, Demetrius Emmanuel nine points with five rebounds and Clinton Brown had seven points.
