Colina advances to Banker's Softball League playoffs, Commonwealth Bank eliminated

THE Banker’s Softball League continued its regular season at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex on Saturday with a lot of playoff implications on the line.

In the first game at the Banker’s Field, Colina out-slugged CIBC 23-15 to keep their hopes alive for a spot in the playoffs. That wasn’t determined until the final game was played with the Royal Bank of Canada outscoring Commonwealth Bank 20-14. With the loss, Commonwealth got eliminated from the playoffs and Colina advanced.

Also on Saturday, Fidelity kept their hopes alive for the pennant as they knocked off Scotiabank 16-13.

The league, however, will take a break this weekend for the funeral service of Sam Haven, one of their long time directors and manager of Scotiabank. Following the funeral service, the league is scheduled to hold a re-pass/memorial 2-5 pm at the field for all companies and teams affiliated with both the softball and bowling leagues.

During the event, the league will retire Haven’s (No.9) jersey and unveil a memorial plaque in his honour.
