CELEBRATING a post-baby lifestyle, Bahamian entrepreneur Keiani Worrell is using her personal experience as a mother to inspire others.
She recently founded her company, Jazzy Moms, and describes it as more of a community than a business. Jazzy Moms, she said, is aimed at encouraging, inspiring and engaging local mothers throughout the Bahamas.
With a base of operations in Nassau, Jazzy Moms promotes chic, hip and happy mothers – those who embrace the joys of motherhood.
This community seeks to empower, motivate and inspire the young, modern mother through monthly networking activities for parents and children, professional seminars, newsletters from industry professionals and much more.
“Jazzy Moms was born to bridge the gap between my pre-baby lifestyle and a post-baby life. Rather than toss aside areas of life that made me fulfilled and happy, I was determined to embrace them both and created a community of like-minded women that value the importance of creating a balanced life. Jazzy Moms are one-of-a-kind, from the trendsetter and career woman to the stay-at-home and think-outside-the-box mom; we are a community that empowers, inspires and motivates,” said Keiani.
Under the company’s umbrella, Jazzy Moms will play host to the “Moms Who Brunch” event to be held at Doongalik Art Gallery on October 4 from 11am to 2pm. The event will be held under the theme “Managing the Modern Mom”.
Keiani said this networking soirée will create a positive place of interest for mothers and moms-to-be to connect, network, foster friendships and share advice over a delicious catered brunch.
“We recognise the need to provide mothers with access to accurate information about parenting and the ability to learn and share with other moms,” said Keiani.
She said next month’s brunch will provide those in attendance with insight into topics like child rearing, discipline and cognitive learning. It will give mothers an opportunity to get advice from a diverse panel of professionals.
“Speakers will be discussing ‘sparing the rod’, balancing work life as a mother, carving out time for ourselves and much more. At the Moms Who Brunch event, attendees can expect a panel of speakers including Kirkland Pratt whose mission is to educate and promote mental health, discipline and practical parenting, and Giavana Jones. a psychologist and first-time mother that studies childhood behaviour, just to name a few. In addition to the panel and presentations there will be community-building activities, a brunch buffet and bottomless mimosas for all attendees,” said Keiani.
Sharing her personal story, Keiani said growing up she observed how her mother always seemed to have it together, even with raising six children. Keiani said she always wondered how her mother and other women like her did it.
“It’s easy to assume that as time goes on things get better and with technology easier, right? Well, not so much. Parenting in the 21st century has proven to be so complex, for most it is oftentimes overwhelming and a burden. I do believe that the theme ‘Managing the Modern Mom’ is timely and will speak to women that are aspiring to rule their careers and rock at home,” said Keiani.
She believes the Jazzy Moms events will be beneficial to Bahamian women because they builds a community of women that uplift and inspire each other.
“Women will learn the steps to take to creating a balanced life where they are able to build a career, maintain their family and not feel guilty enjoying time for themselves. We want to foster a sense of completeness for every mother that attends the Jazzy Mom events. I see this community growing and expanding throughout the Caribbean and world. While the initial focus is on the Bahamas, we welcome women throughout the world to join the community as we make a global impact,” said Keiani.
